1. What is the difference between the new Dell EMC Proven Professional Implementation Engineer VxBlock Systems Core Specialist credential and the VCE Certified Converged Infrastructure Implementation Engineer credentials?
The VCE Certification program had 4 Implementation Engineer credentials covering Vblock: Compute, Virtualization, Storage and Networking. The new Dell EMC Proven Professional (DEPP) version has one Implementation Engineer Specialist level credential covering the CORE implementation of VxBlock.
Also, passing the new VxBlock Systems Core exam (DES-6121) under the Dell EMC Proven Professional Program will earn the candidate a credential - Implementation Engineer, VxBlock Systems Core Specialist Version 1.0 (EMCIE) - under the Dell EMC Proven Professional program, provided the candidate holds the VCE Converged Infrastructure Associate (VCE-CIA) credential earned after April 14, 2017.
2. Will my current VCE Certified Implementation Engineer certification(s) still be recognized?
Yes, they will still be recognized until they expire. Expiration is 2 years from the date the credential was achieved.
3. Will additional Dell EMC Proven Professional Implementation Engineer certifications be released covering VxBlock Compute, Virtualization, Storage and Networking?
Certifications are under consideration for future development covering the Future Converged Infrastructure and Hyper Converged Infrastructure.
4. Will my VCE Converged Infrastructure (VCE-CIA) credential be a valid Associate-level pre-requisite for the new Dell EMC Proven Professional Implementation Engineer Specialist credential?
Yes, if the VCE Associate credential was achieved after April 14, 2017 based on the updated content.
5. What training is recommended to prepare for the new Implementation Engineer exam? Are any additional resources required?
The recommended training details are listed in the exam description. Please refer to the same prior to exam preparation.
6. What if I am already pursuing a VCE Certified Converged Infrastructure Implementation Engineer credential (Compute, Networking, Storage or Virtualization)?
If you are implementing Vblock solutions, choose to continue pursuing the credential and have already completed the VCE Core (210-010) exam then you can take the appropriate specialty exam (Compute, Storage, Virtualization or Networking) and earn the VCE CI Implementation Engineer credential
If you are implementing Vblock solutions, choose to continue pursuing the credential and have not completed the VCE Core (210-010) exam but you have already completed one or more of the VCE CI Specialist (Compute, Storage, Virtualization or Networking) exams then complete the VCE Core (210-010) exam before it’s retirement on 7/28/17 to earn the respective VCE CI Implementation Engineer Specialist credential(s)
If you are implementing VxBlock solutions and choose to pursue the new Dell EMC Proven Professional Implementation Engineer, VxBlock Systems Core Specialist credential then you can take the Dell EMC Proven Professional program based DES-6121 VxBlock Systems Core Specialist exam to earn the VxBlock based Core Specialist credential
7. Will the new Dell EMC Implementation Engineer Specialist credential expire after 2 years?
No it will not expire. Dell EMC Proven Professional Specialist credentials do not expire; they are versioned.
8. What is credential versioning?
Over time, the skill set for a role-based certification evolves as underlying products, technologies, best practices change. Role-based specialist and expert certifications have a long shelf life. Versioning provides the marketplace with an indication of currency of a candidates’ certification i.e. differentiate a certification based on products, technologies, best practices covered by each version.
9. Will the new Dell EMC Implementation Engineer Specialist lose its validity if my qualifying VCE Associate credential expires?
No, it will not. A valid VCE Associate credential is only expected at the time of earning the Specialist credential under the Dell EMC Proven Professional program.
10. Will I still get a VCE Certified Professional shirt when achieving my new Dell EMC Proven Professional credential?
No, if this is your first Dell EMC Proven Professional Specialist credential certification, or the first one you have achieved since February 1, 2017, you will receive a Dell EMC Proven Professional Specialist shirt.
11. What are the plans for migrating the VCE Design Engineer and VCE Administration Engineer credentials to the Dell EMC Proven Professional program?
They are likely to be migrated by FY2019.
